Publishing Ethics

Eco-Tourism and Sustainable Development follows the COPE Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, and fully supports policies that promote ethical research and publishing standards.

Publishing ethics are foundational to the credibility of academic journals. Adherence ensures integrity, fairness, and public trust in scholarly communication.

For Editors

Editors are responsible for maintaining academic integrity throughout the editorial and peer review process. They must:

  • Make impartial decisions based on academic merit.
  • Ensure double-blind peer review is rigorous, fair, and confidential.
  • Avoid handling manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.
  • Uphold transparency, especially in cases involving ethical concerns or allegations of misconduct.

For Authors

Authors must:

  • Submit only original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
  • Clearly assign authorship and ensure all listed authors meet authorship criteria.
  • Disclose all potential conflicts of interest—financial or otherwise.
  • Obtain proper ethical approvals for studies involving humans or animals.
  • Avoid plagiarism (including self-plagiarism), data manipulation, or duplicate submission.

For Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.
  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback.
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves if necessary.
  • Report any suspected ethical issues in the manuscript.

Misconduct and Oversight

We take all allegations of research or publication misconduct seriously. Plagiarism, falsified data, authorship disputes, or other unethical practices will be investigated and addressed according to COPE guidelines. When necessary, corrections, retractions, or notices of concern will be issued.

Data Sharing and Reproducibility

We encourage authors to share underlying data and methodologies to support reproducibility and transparency. Data should be presented clearly, and authors must be willing to make their data available upon request, unless restrictions apply.

By submitting to Eco-Tourism and Sustainable Development, all contributors agree to uphold these ethical principles throughout the publishing process.
