This paper examines the impact of tourism on the preservation and transformation of Kalash culture in the 21st century. The Kalash people, residing in Pakistan's Kalash Valley, face both opportunities and challenges due to increasing tourism. While tourism has provided economic benefits and helped preserve traditional festivals like Chilim Joshi, Choimus, and Uchal, it has also led to the commodification of cultural practices and the hybridization of traditions, especially among younger generations. Additionally, tourism has contributed to environmental degradation and economic dependency, raising concerns about the sustainability of both culture and natural resources. The paper highlights the need for sustainable tourism strategies that balance cultural preservation, environmental protection, and economic development to ensure the long-term survival of Kalash heritage.
