Correction & Withdrawal Policies

Contemporary Visual Culture and Art upholds the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and accountability. To ensure the reliability of the scholarly record, we maintain clear policies regarding corrections, article withdrawal, retractions, and expressions of concern.

Correction

If authors discover substantive errors or inaccuracies in their published article, they must promptly notify the editorial office at cvca@zycenter.com. A correction will be considered under the following conditions:

  • The error is factual and may impact the interpretation, validity, or scholarly accuracy of the work.

  • The correction request is not based on subjective opinion or reinterpretation of data.

  • The request is submitted by the corresponding author and approved by all co-authors.

Approved corrections will:

  • Be clearly indicated within the article, including the date of correction.

  • Be accompanied by a formal correction notice for significant changes.

  • Be reflected in the article metadata and re-submitted to indexing services.

Minor typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the content's substance will be noted via an editorial footnote without a formal correction notice.

Withdrawal Policy

Authors may request to withdraw a manuscript before publication under the following conditions:

  • A formal written request must be submitted by the corresponding author to cvca@zycenter.com, including the reason for withdrawal and confirmation from all co-authors.

  • If the manuscript is already under peer review or in production, a valid explanation is required, and the authors may be responsible for administrative or processing costs incurred.

  • The final decision on withdrawal will be made by the Editor-in-Chief or managing editor.

The journal reserves the right to withdraw manuscripts at any stage if there is evidence of ethical violations, including plagiarism or data manipulation.

Retraction

Published articles may be retracted in the following circumstances:

  • Serious errors that compromise the validity or scholarly contribution of the article.

  • Proven ethical breaches, such as plagiarism, redundant publication, authorship fraud, or legal issues.

  • Failure by the authors to correct major problems after notification.

Retraction procedures follow the COPE Retraction Guidelines and involve:

  • Issuing a formal retraction notice titled "Retraction: [Article Title]" linked to the original article.

  • Applying a clear “Retracted” watermark on the published PDF.

  • Maintaining the article record along with the retraction date and reason, for the sake of transparency and citation tracking.

Note: If an article is retracted due to confirmed misconduct, any article processing fees (APCs) paid will not be refunded.

Article Removal

In rare and exceptional cases, articles may be permanently removed from the journal’s online archive. This will occur only if:

  • The content is defamatory, violates privacy, or infringes on legal rights.

  • There is a legal obligation or court ruling requiring removal.

  • The article poses a serious and immediate risk (e.g., to public safety or professional ethics).

A formal removal notice will be posted in place of the article, explaining the reason for removal.

Expression of Concern

An Expression of Concern may be issued when:

  • There is inconclusive evidence of potential misconduct.

  • An investigation has been initiated but cannot be completed in a timely manner.

  • Concerns arise regarding the article’s integrity, but conclusive findings are not yet available.

All corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern will be made openly accessible and clearly labeled to uphold transparency in the academic record.
